Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy as well as Skilled Nursing Services support patients & their families. With realistic goals in mind our staff helps patients plan for and achieve the highest level of independence. Just east of the new Mercy Regional Medical Center complex, off Mercado Street, our lovely rehabilitation facility offers extensive therapy for those recovering from surgeries and illness. Here are some of the highlights: An innovative hydro-therapy program with indoor pool includes underwater treadmill - the only therapy facility of it's kind in SW Colorado. Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy - promoting healing for the return home to independence. Staff assist with billing to appropriate sources: Medicare, CO Medicaid, Private Insurance, Workers Compensation, LTC Insurance. 40 private rooms assure patients less stress and greater attention to their needs. Large courtyard offers private outdoor oasis. Location is convenient for doctors to visit while doing hospital rounds. Easy access to all Three Springs medical services. Enhanced dining offers restaurant style menu selection, daily specials and encourages family visits to share meals. She became an RN in 1985 and always knew she wanted to work in elder care. An Indiana girl that dreamed of living out west, she raised her daughters and then knew she could reach her goal. Deb came to Durango not knowing a soul. Varied nursing experiences have rounded her expertise. She worked ICU, ER, and Recovery Units while still in Indiana. She also worked in Long Term Care and was a nurse for a Durango Plastic Surgeon until his retirement. When Cottonwood Inn opened, Deb joined our staff as a night nurse. She gained the responsibilities of Director of Nursing and easily stepped into the Administrator role when we needed her. Part of her family has now followed her to Colorado. Her daughter and two grandsons that she adores are now in Durango, too! Deb is so comfortable at Cottonwood Inn. She has been a member of our family since we started serving area families in 2014. “The most rewarding part of my career is working with the elderly”, Deb often expresses. We are thankful for her calm leadership which adds greatly to our mission to be Where Quality in Life is Most Important. Director of Nursing - Kelly Kemp, RN Our Kelly is a local Durangoan, having grown up on Red Mesa and loving the country life. Before pursuing her nursing career, Kelly was a great bartender. Just ask her husband! She met the man she would marry through this work - he owned a bar and hired her. However, her passion to work with the elderly led her into her nursing career in 2010. We greatly appreciate her leadership because she has done the work of those she supervises. Kelly has been a Certified Nursing Assistant, Qualified Medication Administration Personnel in assisted living and in 2015, earned her RN through Pueblo Community College. “I just love it!” Kelly’s enthusiasm for elder care led her to Cottonwood Inn in March 2018. She has proven her devotion and keen nursing skills and is now meeting the challenges as Director of Nursing. Her three sons and stepdaughter are great cheerleaders for their mom’s career. Kelly has a very approachable style. Her residents, families and staff know she will try her best to help, provide guidance, education and comfort. We are blessed.
